Museums closed in 2020. 3D artists had nowhere to show their work online. The existing tools demanded VR headsets or expensive software. So we built Mona. A free, browser-based creative tool where artists build and share immersive 3d worlds. No headset, just a browser tab.

A few months later, Facebook renamed itself Meta and spent billions on a VR-only metaverse. We bet people would rather click a link than strap a computer to their face. Two years later, Meta added web and mobile support. By then, artists like Tom Sachs and Daniel Arsham had already built over 10,000 worlds on Mona.

I co-founded the company with Justin Melillo and Alex Patin. Served as COO from 2021 to 2023. We went from an MVP to a $14.6M Series A in under six months. The round was co-led by Protocol Labs, Archetype, and Collab+Currency, with participation from OpenSea Ventures, Polygon Studios, ConsenSys, and SV Angel.
